We have invited the Marine Conservation Society’s Policy and Advocacy Manager to join us for a pivotal online workshop focused on the Scottish Seabird Conservation Action Plan consultation. This is your opportunity to shape the future of seabird conservation in Scotland, ensuring that your voice helps to safeguard these vital marine species and their ecosystems.
This interactive session joined by our Community Development Officer, Sean Flinn, will:
Explain the consultation process and why public input is crucial to creating effective conservation strategies.
Provide an overview of the Scottish Seabird Conservation Action Plan, which outlines priority actions to build seabird resilience and address pressures such as climate change, habitat loss, and avian flu.
Guide participants through the consultation’s key themes, including food supply, habitat restoration, and survival resilience.
Offer expert advice on how to craft thoughtful, impactful responses to make a difference.
You and your group will be part of an FCCAN group response to the consultation, providing a stronger voice for Fifers in the Scottish Parliament.
Why This Matters
The consultation highlights alarming trends in Scotland’s internationally important seabird populations, which are in decline due to climate change, human activities, and recent outbreaks of avian influenza. Seabirds are a cornerstone of marine ecosystems, and their protection is critical for biodiversity, livelihoods, and the health of our oceans.
This workshop will empower you to engage with the action plan, which identifies steps for coordinated efforts among governments, conservation organizations, industries, and communities. Your feedback will directly influence how Scotland tackles these challenges and implements innovative solutions to protect its seabirds.
Don’t miss this opportunity to make your voice heard!
The consultation closes on the 4th of March 2025, so this is the perfect chance to contribute before the deadline. Register now to secure your spot and help shape a better future for Scotland’s seabirds.
